Visceral, emotional, compelling. Liss Fain's dynamic and emotionally
poignant movement blends the flow and movement experimentation of
modern dance with the kinetic precision and vertical lift of ballet. Since its
founding in 1989, Liss fain Dance has collaborated with film makers, visual
designers, musicians and technologists on projects that have toured
nationally and internationally. The company is currently developing  artistic
exchanges with companies in Poland, the Netherlands and Russia.  LFD is
committed to pursuing cross-cultural exchanges through performances,
workshops, and master classes,  contributing to greater mutual
understanding and respect between citizens from different countries and
cultures.

Percussion legend Louie Romero spent ten years in trombonist Willie Colón’

and Latin jazz on its long overdue debut album, 2006’s Timbalero.

Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble
The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble (LJYE) of San Francisco is a performing
group of talented musicians ages ten to 18. They perform Latin jazz classics
and original compositions at a level that has landed them gigs at the San
Jose Jazz Festival, the KCSM Jazz Festival, KGO Radio, Yerba Buena
Gardens, SF Museum of Modern Art, Paramount's Great America and the
world-renown jazz club, Yoshi’s. The LJYE has shared the stage with
legendary performers such as the great Cuban bassist, Cachao; piano
virtuoso Chuchito Valdes; Latin jazz heavyweights Poncho Sanchez and Clare
Fischer; and the Grammy Award-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The
LJYE mission is to preserve the traditions of Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban music
by teaching it to youth and to create role models for aspiring student
musicians.

Carne Cruda
Raw and ready to rock, Carne Cruda hits the scene hard with the unbridled
energy of the rowdiest Latin music. Blending Surf with Cumbia, Son with
Soca, and traditional with indie, the Carne Crudeboys (and Crudegirl) are a
plastic flamingo on the neatly kempt lawn of Salsa music, jumping and
shouting all over the tennis courts of the Latin traditionalists. When the Buena
Vista Social Club gets Red Hot Chili Pepper-ified and They Might Be Giants
eat Willie Colon, you know Carne Cruda is rocking the house. Produced by
four-time Grammy-nominated producer Greg Landau (Susana Baca, Maldita
Vecindad), don't miss Carne Cruda.
